Dog scratching is natural. You won’t ever stop your canine from doing it. The problem is that if your dog scratching is a sign of an underlying problem then this is something that should be addressed. For example your dog could have fleas or some similar skin bug then these needs to be treated. Also scratching in the same area for long lengths of time can break the skin, which can cause sores and bleeding which could lead to an infection.

Dogs can also catch atopic dermatitis. This is an inhaled allergy which causes itching. Atopic Dermatits can be caused by house dust mites, pollen or mold sores

Atopic Dermatitis dogs tend to suffer from excessive itching in their paws, groin, face, ears and armpits. They have a habit of chewing their feet or rubbing their noses on the carpet to help each itching.

You should seek advice from your vet if you believe that this is what your pet may have. Treatments that your vet may advise are:

Steroid shots or tablets
Oatmeal shampoos
Allergy or desensitization shots

Animal antihistamine cream

Whatever the course of your dog scratching is it should always be treated straightaway.

Cats are naturally curious. It’s not their fault, it’s in their nature. But this means that if we have a cat along side any other small pets can be dangerous. Cats also like fish so you could say that keeping a goldfish and a cat together is asking for trouble. However there are ways to make sure that they live in harmony.

Firstly you should try and make sure that your fish tank is kept somewhere that is not too tempting for your cat and not too easy for it to get too. Some where high up on a shelf is a great.

If you are having an open top/round fish bowl then you should try and get some kind of material gauze or mesh to place over the bowl to protect the fish. Really it is recommended that you have a closed top tank if at all possible.

Remember that cats are stubborn creatures so if they are not able to get to your fish they will probably try and push the tank around. So if possible try and choose a heavy set tank so that your cat will not have the strength to push it. Also keep it away from an edge so that if your cat does manage to move it slightly then it will not topple over the edge and smash.

Around this time of year, I often get e-mailed from people asking me do cats make good Christmas presents and if so, what sort of cat would I advise? Well, firstly, let me say that a cat is an extremely serious purchase and you must be sure you’re going to be able to look after the animal. Lots of people these days are buying animals for their children and the animals are quickly disregarded after the Christmas period when the child becomes bored. This I do not agree with but that’s not to say that cats cannot be used as a Christmas gift. There are lots of cats out there, particularly during the winter time who are looking for a good home and if you’re able to provide that, all the better.

My personal favourite cats which I feel make fantastic pets are persian cats. I feel these make absolutely fantastic pets and are most definitely my favourite breed of cat.

Of course, a Persian is going to be slightly more expensive than your average kitten at your local pet shelter, but if you’re looking for a truly beautiful cat then I feel the persians are definitely the best option. I spent many days looking at the Persians on catchannel.com and can honestly say I am simply in love with them. I own two of them personally and cannot say I’ve ever seen a more beautiful and placid animal.

The only downside, particularly when buying for the children of the house is that they’re not particularly active when compared to other types of household cats. This is not to say they’re not great fun, but if you’re expecting a cat that is going to be extremely exciting and jumping around your house, you’re probably going to be disappointed.

My personal favorite when it comes to dogs would have to be the Golden Retrievers. This Golden Retrievers are known to be loyal and protective, and often considered as one of the best pet selection available. As a puppy, Golden Retrievers are surely more than just cute; your children will love cuddling with this gorgeous little breed for sure.

If you are interested to get a Golden Retriever, or any other kind of dogs you choose, you can easily find dogs for sale through online listing sites. The availability of online listing sites are making the search for a family dog a lot less time consuming. In fact, the process can actually be a fun family activity. I always love to sit around with my children, opening dogs for sale listings and picking our favorites before visiting the dog and closing the deal.

If you are relatively new to dogs, the dog listing site also offers you more than enough resources as well as commercial books and videos on how you can take good care of your new dog. Dogs love to be pampered occasionally, and knowing just the right treat can help you establish emotional bonding with your pet a lot sooner than you can imagine.

Coupons are a great way to cut the costs of everyday items. Using coupons can save upwards of several hundred dollars on everyday items, through the year – pet owners can save money on dog food and other accessories and items which are used for the pet. While using these coupons can save money, there are many pet owners that are unaware of where to find these valuable coupons to save money on dog food.

Here are some of common places that you can find dog food coupons:

Use the internet. There are hundreds of websites available on the internet that allows users to find coupons, and dog food coupons are no exceptions. Signing up for emails from manufacturers and pet stores, as well as emailing manufacturers to request coupons, as well as finding printable coupons is an effective way to save money while buying dog food, as many brands can be quite expensive.

While you are shopping at the supermarket or pet supply store, keep your eye on the shelves for coupon inserts, as these can be used and applied to sale prices through other stores.

There are often coupons which can be found on packaging that can be used on items that are purchased in the future. Finding an assortment of coupons and shopping at stores that allow you to use multiple coupons or double your coupons is an effective way to save the most money while shopping for dog food.

Most people love having cats as pets, but they cannot imagine the number of problems which they will face after buying a cute kitten. Being a good cat breeder, you have to take care of the cattery’s needs, as well as the cats’ and kittens’ needs, and make sure the new owners are aware of these needs too.

Nowadays, cat breeding is emerging as a proper practice for cat breeders, and the most interesting reality is that it has been studied and learned for centuries. Some of the important aspects included in this learning are: selection of the brood animal, caring techniques, pregnancy and queening techniques. A perfect cat breeder has to understand all of the above mentioned practices to obtain a healthy and active animal. Therefore, if you love your pet and wish to breed from them, then you can opt for a cat breeder who can help you with breeding your cats.

I suggest that the best way to find a cat breeder is to look into a cat breeder directory. In these directories you can find thousands of breeders of cats, and they specialize in hundreds of breeds of cats. Therefore, make life easier for you and search for an expert cat breeder by location, breed of cat or by cattery.

Being the responsible owner of a cat is much more than just having the company wonder around in and out of the house. It entails more responsibility than just buying kibble and taking to monthly, semester or annual visits to the veterinarian; spaying or neutering is not something that most owners like to do because the thought of being able to participate in the wonderful miracle that life is might be too tempting.

However, there is an urgent need for responsible parenting; not only for human babies but for all babies as well. Cats are considered – by some – to be a pest, and they are acting accordingly, killing and even eating our beloved friends. Naturally, as a responsible parent you are less inclined to let him or her out of your home or you have taken the time to knock on every door making sure that they know which cat is yours so that he or she will not be harmed.

But this responsibility does not end with your cat friend, it expands to the offspring that he or she spawns; as a result, you need to be responsible where you will place the kittens that come with every litter. Most likely you will be able to properly place ONE litter, then there is no point in subjecting your cat to additional litters that will not be properly placed.

Playing with your cat can be a lot of fun, but buying the sufficient amount of kitten toys can be overwhelming. Mainly because we see the kitten toys and buy those which appeal to us regardless if they are actually functional, will actually appeal to the cat, or are budget friendly. But this does not need to be the case; cats can be entertained with a whole lot of things and they can be quite cheap.

Styrofoam cones wrapped in yarn will become a wonderful toy that cats can tug around. The wonder of Styrofoam is that it comes in many shapes and forms that will allow you to use yarn in many ways; for example, with the right colored yarn, you can make an egg shaped Styrofoam into a lady bug toy with just a few cents cost.

Other cat toys that will just cost you a few bucks are also made with yarn. Use a small ball of Styrofoam as a base and create an “yarn octopus”, the Styrofoam will allow you to attach it to the end of a stick and you can handle it easily to make your cat jump and go wild.

Kittens seem to be the perfect gift for some people. If you are considering giving a kitten to someone, then you should also consider providing that someone with the “basic kitten set” so that he or she will have what he or she will need while adjusting to the kitten, and the kitten while he or she adjusts to his or her new human.

It might seem hard to do, but actually, it is not. There are many things you can do as the person giving the kitten to the recipient, and many things you can give them which will make life easier for both kitten and new owner.

The kitten welcome set should consider and include kitten kibble for at least fifteen days to a month; towels in which the new human can wrap a ticking clock or hot water filled bottles; kitty china for water and kibble, a kitty collar for both his or her name as well as a guard against fleas and ticks.

When you walk out of your home you hear a distinct “mew” in a soft, almost inaudible, tone. You realize that you haven’t cleaned the backyard as you promised (or your family member promised) almost a month ago; as you walk towards the place where you heard the soft “mew” sound it almost seems that someone is saying “shhh!”. But then, to your awe, you see a mom and a litter of kittens.

Naturally, you are now the proud human of several new souls and one very wise cat that decided to give birth to her litter in your yard, fully aware that you would not give harm them! Then what are you to do? Of course, you cannot come near them if you are not acquainted with mom, but you can provide the new mom with something warm to drink (milk) and something to eat (canned tuna). In this manner you will be able to slip vitamins and other medications that will allow you to keep the cat and her litter, or to protect your home while mom does her thing.

If you are not planning on keeping mom and her litter, then call the local shelter and ask them to pick them up; they will put them for adoption and they will find beautiful and happy homes aching to get a lovely kitten.
